Madi + Lucas’ Adventure Elopement in the Remote + Wild Chilean Patagonia

After getting engaged, Madi and Lucas considered having a traditional wedding and even began to plan one, but it never felt like they were being true to what they really wanted as a couple. When they stumbled upon the idea of an adventure elopement, they decided to travel to Patagonia and create their dream wedding. Lucas is a geologist and has always been drawn to the power and history of the Andes Mountains. “We always said we would go one day, and finally we just said why not now, and why not make it our wedding too?” Madi added.

With dreams of dramatic mountain views and alpine lakes, Torres Del Paine National Park was the perfect setting. Madi and Lucas brought solely their wedding outfits and rings, and that was all they needed to exchange vows. With a sunrise ceremony, the couple stood before a tranquil lake with breathtaking jagged peaks surrounding them.

This elopement was just the two of them, and I remained far enough away to give them privacy but to also capture their special moment. They read letters aloud from their families, exchanged vows and rings, and held each other closely. After their short, intimate ceremony, they wanted to do a little hike to an overlook in their wedding attire and backpacks, adding a sense of playful exploration and adventure to their day. At the top of their trail, the newlyweds toasted to their love with cold, local beers. After hiking back down to the water’s edge, they frolicked in the wind-driven waves along the shore of the lake. Filled with laughter and dancing together in the fresh Andes air, Madi and Lucas shared a truly special South American elopement.
