A Family-Filled Fall Wedding in Breckenridge

As the bride and groom seal their vows with the first kiss, their families on either side of them clap in celebration during this afternoon micro wedding on the shore of an alpine lake in the heart of Breckenridge, CO.

A Family-Filled Fall Wedding in Breckenridge

S and J met by “complete happenstance” one evening over ten years ago in Lakewood, CO. After talking for what seemed like hours that auspicious night, the two were practically inseparable.

They share a love of the outdoors and adventure, and over the past years have enjoyed their time off-roading, fishing, exploring, road tripping, and traveling to new places both near and far.

In June of 2018, J coordinated a weekend getaway for S’s 25th birthday. The two escaped to Avon, CO, and the lovely Ritz-Carlton there. After hiking up to Hanging Lake together, J proposed by the waterside.

When it came time to plan the wedding, S– an admittedly very private person– insisted that, although she wanted a supremely intimate moment, she also desired to create memories with the people they love the most, their immediate families, with whom they are extremely close.

What better place than their beloved Colorado to gather together their nearest and dearest for a perfect fall wedding? S and J secured a lovely cabin in Breckenridge, where both sides of the family were able to convene for S and J’s big day.

Everyone spent a happy, leisurely morning getting ready together after brunch. Then, S and J shared a joyous first look in the backyard of the cabin, where the pines and aspens shone in all their autumn glory.

For the ceremony, the entire crew journeyed to a lovely, shimmering alpine lake, where S, walked down the path by her father, and J exchanged vows and rings and ‘I-dos’ as S’s brother officiated. Before heading back down to the cozy warmth of the house for cocktails and small bites, S and J relished some moments alone amongst the stunning backdrop of the western range’s brilliant fall colors. S looked radiant in her long, flowy wedding gown, complemented by her lovely flowers (which she arranged herself) - a cascade of ivory, sage, terracotta, and dusty blue hues. J looked dapper and sharp in his crimson-colored, tailored suit.

The rest of the day unfolded in happy, uncomplicated perfection– just as the couple envisioned. The private chef arrived to prepare a feast, the cake was cut, toasts were made, and people communed by the fire pit outside. Later, friends and family ascended back up into the mountains in J’s Jeep for sunset pictures and a first dance (to a song played by S’s brother on the guitar) under the emerging, twinkling stars.

My heartiest congratulations to S and J!

A close up photo of the bride and groom's rings placed on bright yellow aspen leaves, all sitting on a slice of wood. An homage to the apsen tree theme that is present throughout their wedding photos.
The groom putting on his tie in the mirror while laughing joyfully with his friends and family beside him. He's tightening a red tie over his crisp white shirt and maroon colored dress pants.
The mother of the groom adding the final touch to her son's wedding suit with a delicate boutonniere made of a single white flower with some green and orange pieces on the left side.
The bride reaches up to grab her wedding dress as it hangs from the stairwell in their cabin-esque rental home. The dress is a long sleeve a-line gone with sheer lace sleeves as the long lace-trimmed train reaches the floor.
The bride looks in the mirror as she takes in her wedding-day look on a calm afternoon in Breckenridge. This photo shows the full extent of the gorgeous lace train of the light and airy gown and the somewhat exposed back of her dress.
The bride's mother helps her with the final touches as she adds a bracelet to her daughter's wrist . The mother of the bride is wearing a dark lacey dress to compliment the lace and floral theme of the wedding.
During their first look under an aspen tree, the bride and groom stand back-to-back while holding hands, both smiling in anticipation before seeing each other in their wedding outfits.
After turning around to see each other, the bride and groom both smile happily as they take in their soon-to-be spouse. The background is full of light brown fallen leaves, yellow leaves on the aspen tree to the left, and deep green of the pine trees
With the brown and grey mountains of Breckenridge and calm lake as their backdrop, the bride walks along the shore of the lake towards their wedding guests while holding her dads hand. The guests are standing in front of the mountains as they wait.
As the groom places the ring on his bride, the two look down as her hand adoringly and their officiant reads from a brown leather book behind them. The lake shimmers in the background and the fall colors are in full effect.
In celebration of their unity, the bride and groom hug each other tightly as their guests surround them closely for a group photo. The bride holds her orange, blue, ivory, and green bouquet that pops against the white of her dress.
After their ceremony, the bride and groom sneak away for private portraits on the edge of a lake, holding each other closely. Their perfectly romantic reflections appear on the surface of the lake.

Congratulations, S + J!
