Lina's Senior Session in the Indian Peaks Wilderness
Lina’s Colorado Adventure Senior Session
Lina, Class of 2021
I have to gush about my niece, Lina, for just a little bit. (I’ll try not to embarrass you, girl!) Seriously, though, I am so incredibly proud of the woman Lina has become. It’s been an absolute honor watching her grow up—I was there when she was born and I was the second person to hold her, after my sister Vivi—and I like to think I’ve taken part in shaping her values. ;)
To say that this 2020-2021 senior year has been challenging would be an understatement. This pandemic has been so difficult for so many of us, on so many levels. Remembering back to when I was 18, I can’t even imagine having to stop hanging out in large groups, putting all extracurricular activities on hold, taking classes entirely online—essentially redefining high school as we know it. The Class of 2021 has had to adapt and power through so many tough obstacles (and difficult emotions), and for that alone I have so much respect!
On top of that, Lina has made countless personal sacrifices, yet she has persevered to achieve so much this past year. Throughout her high school career, Lina participated in the EMR and Sports Medicine programs through Boulder Tech; was involved in Student Council; and took AP classes. This has given her a head start toward a nursing career, something I couldn’t be more proud of.
Today, May 6, is National Nurses Day. Let’s all take a moment to appreciate how essential nurses are, not only during a pandemic, but always! I have so much respect for those in this field. It takes a special kind of person to devote your life’s work to caring for others.
Lina starts classes at Front Range Community College in August for her A.A.S. in nursing, which is the first step toward becoming a Registered Nurse and eventually completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She’s considering CU Boulder, CSU, or MSU Denver.
As if her schedule wasn’t busy enough, Lina is ALSO on the Prom Committee! Prom is TOMORROW, and I can’t wait to see her dressed to the nines in her gorgeous prom dress. Lina, you are so beautiful inside and out, and I am one proud Tía!! I love you and I celebrate you! Congratulations on your upcoming graduation, and I can’t wait to see where you go from here!
About the Photoshoot
Indian Peaks Wilderness
The Indian Peaks Wilderness is situated along the Continental Divide, which guarantees gorgeous mountain scenery, pristine lakes, awesome day hiking, and tons of opportunity for adventure. I knew it was the perfect location for this intrepid teen’s adventure senior session.
What is an “adventure senior session,” you ask? It’s a senior portrait session held in the great outdoors, immersed in all of Colorado’s natural glory. It doesn’t mean we’ll spend the whole day hiking—although we definitely could, if you wanted to. In fact, most of these photos were just a short walk from the parking lot! No intense inclines to climb or boulders to scramble over! Still, we felt like we were deep in the backcountry… just us and the wildlife.
Nearby Brainard Lake is a super popular recreation area in the Indian Peaks—you may have heard of it. We intentionally chose another lakeside area for our photoshoot (there are many to choose from out here!), but if you schedule your senior portrait session for a weekday, there’s a better chance you’ll have the place to yourself.
Interested in an Indian Peaks senior session for your high school portraits? I bet you will be after taking a “peak” at this gallery! (Ayyy, that was pretty bad.) But please do reach out if you’re looking for a Colorado senior photographer! I’d love to help you find your perfect location—and I promise I’ll spare you from any more bad jokes ;)
