Mountain Lake Elopement Photos
Chris + Candice’s Frosty Fall First-Look Photos
I couldn’t hide my excitement for this First Look as we approached our location. As a photographer, you always hope for “good” weather—but you also secretly hope for dramatic clouds, spontaneous snowfall, or other “crazy” weather that can produce some really epic images.
I met up with Chris and Candice at their hotel in Idaho Springs, Colorado, for some getting-ready pics. Idaho Springs is located in Clear Creek Canyon, providing gorgeous mountain scenery any direction you look. From the downtown area, we drove to this nearby lake, and were almost instantly enveloped in a magical mist. The trees looked like they had just been dusted with powdered sugar, and a thick fog hung over the surface of the water. I knew at that moment that we were going to get some ethereal, romantic shots for this mountain lake elopement!
I was stoked that Chris and Candice have an adventurous spirit like I do! Not gonna lie—it was pretty cold out at the lake, and the wind started picking up after we got there, too. But these guys had a great attitude, and their love was radiating warmth on that chilly afternoon. As an adventure elopement photographer, you can bet that I’ll be ready to follow you and your partner into any kind of weather—and we’ll get stunning photographs no matter what the day throws at us!
As our photo shoot progressed, the sky began to clear, the fog lifted, and the frosty treetops became more defined. That’s Colorado weather for ya! Always changing, but always so, so gorgeous. Chris started twirling Candace at the lake’s edge, and these dancing photos are my absolute favorite! It was a whimsical, fairytale-like elopement, and I couldn’t be happier with the final images! If you’re looking to book a photographer for your Colorado wedding or elopement, I’d love to hear about your plans and any questions you may have! Please reach out!
