Why I Became an Elopement Photographer in Colorado
Helping adventurous souls celebrate their day —their way— is my favorite thing.
Hi, I’m Andrea!
Weddings can be fairytale events. As a former traditional wedding photographer in Colorado, I know they can also burn a hole in your bank account, cause a downpour of anxiety, and stir up family drama. Let’s face it: Big weddings are more of a performance than an experience. They’re not about a “just the two of us” celebration at all. When you’re focused on hosting an event, you dedicate a lot less attention to actually living the moment with genuine intention.
Over the years, photographing countless couples in the Mile-High City, I began to see first-hand that eloping takes the pressure off and lets you actually experience your big day with greater intention. That mindfulness doesn’t just mean you’ll enjoy your elopement more in the moment—it also means you’ll remember the event in detail for years to come.
So a few years ago, I decided to say adios to big weddings and began intentionally working only with couples who wanted to adventure with me to magical ski towns like Crested Butte and Breckenridge; the majestic Rocky Mountains; or neighboring Utah for the dramatic red rocks of Moab and Canyonlands. My portfolio reinforces that this was the perfect shift for me (and my happy clients)!
I don't even know where to begin with how amazing Andrea was for our elopement project! When we had our first call with Andrea we had no idea where to begin and if she was up for our challenge—planning an elopement in less than 5 weeks. But she was game, and she was incredible!
We told her how important it was us to have quality time together and that we wanted our day filled with hiking. She helped us choose the most beautiful locations for pictures and our ceremony. She recommended vendors and restaurants. She was PREPARED! At 3:45 am when my husband and I were both feeling the altitude sickness she had ginger candy for us to suck on. At 5 am when I was freezing after first looks she had a pair of gloves and handwarmers for me to borrow. At the top of our hike in the middle of the afternoon when my husband drank the last of his water, she had a water bottle that could filter stream water ready for him to use.
Andrea is the trifecta—she can plan, she is prepared, and damn does she take some amazing photographs. I can't speak highly enough of Andrea—she is kind, genuine, and good at what she does. So if you're looking for a photographer and you've made it this far.... take the leap! And if this doesn't convince you, just take a look at the photos....
