Itzel + Devin’s Mountainous Midsummer Micro-Wedding

Colorado in July:
(Mostly) Sunny Days + Starry Nights

Upon deciding to spend the rest of their lives as husband and wife, Itzel and Devin knew exactly what kind of wedding they wanted—a July elopement on a mountaintop near Vail.

”An intimate wedding within nature,” Itzel told me. “We want an experience we will never forget, as well as something to resemble our adventurous lives together!”

I was overjoyed to get to work with such a nature-loving couple who have a passion for camping, snowboarding, hiking, and exploring the mountains, especially ours in Colorado. They first met on a job interview when Devin was looking to hire someone in the Albuquerque sub shop they’d both work in for the next two years.

“It’s so amazing how a small moment of time can impact your whole entire life!” Itzel said.  Then she told me about their first date at the local pizzeria and how they eventually fell madly in love. “After that point, it was all set in motion to be where we are today.”

The couple told me life since their July elopement has been full of love, life, and joy. “We’ve endured countless trips together, laughs, and memories, as well as hardships and stresses. We have two sweet dogs and have built our relationship to be a fun and adventurous one.”

They couldn’t have picked a more beautiful day for their wedding. Colorado in July is simply beautiful. We were wowed by all the wildflowers that made the scenery at our private site pop with beautiful color. The day was mostly warm too, topping out in the mid-70 degrees. For an hour in the afternoon, Mother Nature decided all those flowers needed a lil shower. Clouds rolled in (as they can do on any sunny Colorado day), the rains came down, and a cool breeze blew through the valley. As an experienced Colorado photographer, I’m no stranger to changes in weather. I kept the adventure alive and spirits high. I cheered the couple on and we made it through the rain (and even got some great images with moody clouds).  It was a blast. Later on, the night temps dipped into the low-40’s, and millions of stars twinkled in the clear, dark skies in celebration of our happy bride and groom.

Custom Weddings of Colorado (CWC) was chosen as their wedding planner. Wendee Vezzetti of CWC specializes in the type of intimate wedding packages Itzel and Devin desired. CWC works with an incredible vendor team and I’m so glad to be included.

Itzel’s gorgeous florals were created by Pink Posey Designs; an absolutely delectable cake was made by La Patisserie Francaise.

I handled the photography! Enjoy the photos and if you have any questions about how you can elope in Colorado in July, reach out to me. I’d love to help!

Congratulations again, Itzel + Devin!
